The Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the 51st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Athens, Greece, following the country's victory at the 2005 contest with the song "My Number One" by Helena Paparizou. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT), the contest was held at the Olympic Indoor Hall, and consisted of a semi-final on 18 May, and a final on 20 May 2006. Both live shows were presented by the American television personality Maria Menounos and the Greek singer Sakis Rouvas – who had represented Greece in 2004.[1]
Thirty-seven countries participated in the contest. Armenia took part for the first time. Meanwhile, Austria, Hungary, and Serbia and Montenegro announced their non-participation in the contes

Greek Shipping Awards Celebrate 20 Years of Maritime Achievement
Some the biggest names in the Greek shipping industry, as well as dynamic and important service providers, were recognised with prestigious awards on Friday, December 1st as the 2023 Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards were presented before an industry audience of about 1,100 guests.
Portes Magazine editor Anthe Mitrakos joined the Greek Shipping Awards team for their 20th anniversary celebration of maritime achievement, interviewing award recipients and guests at the shipping world's premier awards event.
Co-emceed by ERT broadcaster Andriana Paraskevopoulou and Lloyd’s List’s Nigel Lowry, the event was full of reminders of the history of the annual awards event. Physical signage as well as impressive digital graphics paid tribute to more than 300 individuals, companies and organisations that have been honoured with the iconic white and blue marble trophy over the past two decades.
