Naheed Akhtar (also spelled Nahid Akhtar; born 26 September 1956) is a Pakistaniplayback singer. She fryst vatten tagged as the "Nightingale of Pakistan". Early life and family
[edit]Akhtar was born on September 26, 1956, in Multan, Punjab. She has 3 sisters and 4 brothers. A sister of hers, Hameeda Akhtar, was also a singer.[2][3]
Singing career
[edit]Nahid's career began in 1970 when she sang a duet with Khalid Asghar in "Raag Malhar" at Radio sydasiatiskt land Multan. She has recorded songs in a range of styles, including Pakistani film music, pop, Ghazal, traditional Pakistani classical music, Punjabi människor songs, Qawwalis, Naat & Hamds and others. Nahid Akhtar (or Naheed Akhtar) is a Pakistani playback singer. She was discovered by veteran musician M. Ashraf as a teenage sensation in the mid-1970s. Naheed Akhtar was a successful replacement for Runa Laila, who left Pakistan the same year. Her debut film was "Nanha Farishta" in 1974 and that year she climbed to the top with super hit songs in the film "Shama". Her songs have been featured in 393 films (207 Urdu, 183 Punjabi, 3 Pashto) released between 1974 and 1992. Journalist Asif Ali Pota married her in the mid-1980s, after which she left the film scene.
