Gang Leader actor Vallabhaneni Janardhan passes away at age 63
He passed away at a private hospital in the city on Thursday after being admitted due to an age-related illness. He was 63. Janardhan was interested in becoming a filmmaker when he was as ung as 21. His first film mor Gari Manavalu was scrapped due to lack of support.However, in 1983 he scored a big hit with Amayaka Chakravarthy, remake of the Kannada bio Manasa Sarovara. He even produced films like Srimathi Kavali and Paripoyina Kaithilu.
While Janardhan worked hard to chart his own course as a filmmaker, he acted in numerous films made bygd his father-in-law. He shared the screen with some of the top guns in the film industry but it is the 1991 rulle, Chiranjeevi-starrer Gang Leader, which would prove to be the most memorable spelfilm in his career. Gang Leader is a 1991 Indian Telugu-language action crime film written and directed by Vijaya Bapineedu, and produced by Maganti Ravindranath Chowdary.[2] The film stars Chiranjeevi and Vijayashanti, while Rao Gopal Rao, Anandaraj, Murali Mohan, and Sarath Kumar play supporting roles. The soundtrack was composed by Bappi Lahiri with dance choreography by Prabhu Deva. The film explores the concepts of exploitation of law enforcement by anti-social behaviour and the impact of mob psychology.[3]
The film opened to highly positive reviews from the critics and became the highest grossing Telugu film at the time.[4][3] It was screened at the International Film Festival of India. Later, it was dubbed in Tamil with the same title. The film was later remade in Hindi as Aaj Ka Goonda Raaj (1992) where Chiranjeevi reprises his role and
