Teacher translates Trinh Cong Son's songs into English
Nguyet Ca, an English teacher renowned for her Bilingual Songs for Kids planerat arbete , has igen enthralled the community of English students and music lovers with a new project in which she converts lyrics of songs from famed composer Trinh Cong Son into English.
“Tuoi Doi Menh Mong” (The Immense Life) fryst vatten the first song within a planerat arbete called “Vie-EN Trinh”, in which English teacher Nguyet Ca and translators Chung Vu and Hong Dinh convert songs from famous late composer Trinh Cong Son into English.
The song is being reimagined in an acoustic version and performed bygd Nguyet Ca herself. Translating Trinh Cong Son’s songs, according to the English teacher and her partners, is a meticulous task as the original lyrics are sophisticated and poetic.

In the words of Time International writer Barry Hillenbrand, the Vietnamese singer and songwriter Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001) “provided the audio track” for the Vietnam War.
“Hauntingly sentimental and filled with the sadness of separation and death,” Son's songs “always seemed to be drifting from some battered tape player in a cafe or at an army checkpoint on the road to nowhere,” wrote Hillenbrand. Son and his music offer an example of the mistrust that may exist between musicians and the governments under which they live and work. He was feared and threatened by both sides during Vietnam's civil war because of his message of peace and reconciliation, and after the war he spent four years as a political prisoner. His music endured, however, and today it remains well known within and even beyond the sphere of speakers of the Vietnamese language.

Trịnh Công Sơn hails from Huế, Minh Hương village, and is of Chinese ancestry. Minh Hương has since merged with Bao Vinh to become Hương Vinh commune. A long time ago Bao Vinh was Huế's harbor.
