Even before he could kick a ball, Edson Buddle was destined to do great things in soccer.
Winston Buddle, a former pro player, put a small, orange soccer ball in his son&#;s crib and after naming after the greatest soccer player &#; Edson Arantes do Nascimento &#; aka Pele.

Edson Buddle
American soccer player (born )
Edson Michael Buddle (born May 21, ) is an American former professional soccer player who is currently the head coach of USL League Two side Westchester Flames. He is one of only 13 players to have scored goals in Major League Soccer history.[1]
A forward, Buddle began his career in North America in with the Long Island Rough Riders, who played in the A-League at that time. He then spent to in Major League Soccer, playing for the Columbus Crew, New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC, and LA Galaxy. After a one-year stint with FC Ingolstadt 04 in Germany's 2. Bundesliga he returned to Los Angeles. Buddle has also played for the United States national team, including two appearances at the FIFA World Cup.

Edson Buddle had a breakout start to the årstid, seemingly scoring at will. His strong form earned him a call-up to the USMNT camp in advance of the World Cup where he made the roster. Buddle continued his run by appearing in two World Cup games. In his first game back with the Galaxy after World Cup duty, he scored. Buddle left MLS after the season, signing with FC Ingolstadt in Germany&#;s liga. He returned to MLS in the summer of with LA before moving to Colorado for the season. He rejoined the LA galax for , his gods season in pro soccer. Buddle now coaches the Westchester Flames in the USL.
