Ventriloquist stands out at Miss Ohio
MANSFIELD – Miss Montgomery County Mackenzie Bart, a ventriloquist, captured Thursday night’s preliminary talent competition at the Miss Ohio Scholarship Program, energetically singing with her puppet, Roxy, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” to a packed Renaissance Theatre.
Miss Miami Valley Alissa Brumbaugh, 23, of Louisville, captured the preliminary swimsuit award in a stunning blue two-piece suit.
Brumbaugh, a family and consumer science teacher and a graduate of the University of Akron, has won the preliminary swimsuit award two other times at Miss Ohio. This year marks Brumbaugh’s fourth and final year competing as she “ages out” of the Miss Ohio program.
“I’ve always worked on my body for Miss Ohio,” Brumbaugh said, “but this year I worked extra hard. This is my last year before I age out, so I really wanted to go out with a bang.”
