[edit]Rayver is a member of the Cruz family, a noted family line in the Philippine entertainment industry. He has two older brothers, Rodjun Cruz and Omar Cruz-Ilustre. His father, Rodolfo L. Ilustre, died in 2009 from kidney failure. He finished Grade 6 in Saint Mark's Institute in Las Piñas.[citation needed]
He graduated in 2010 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration Management from St. Francis of Assisi College, Las Pinas City, Philippines.[1]

[edit]Cruz started as a host, together with his younger brother Rayver, in the children's magazine show 5 And Up. Cruz was a member of the now defunct all-male dancing group Anim-E. The group, previously named Anime—in reference to the Tagalog word "anim" or "six"—originally consisted six members namely: Rayver Cruz, John Wayne Sace, Emman Abeleda, Sergio Garcia, Mico Aytona, and Mhyco Aquino.[1] Rodjun joined the original members in 2005.
