    Abel Ferrara‘s latest work Welcome to New Yorkis a film so unflinching in its portrait of excess and moral-corruption that it makes The Wolf of Wall Streetlook like it was produced by Cbeebies.

    Devereaux (Gerard Depardieu), one of the world’s most powerful businessmen is filled with a gratuitous sexual hunger – a man so entangled in his lifestyle of power, sex and money that he believes everything is his. This is until Deveraux sexually assaults a hotel maid in New York and finds himself arrested, on the verge of being stripped of this power. Ferrara uses the high-profile case of Dominique Strauss-Kahnas his factual basis for this slow-burning piece filled with excess and debauchery.

    Growing up in Hell’s Back Forty, Shannon Leigh developed a fierce loyalty to all things Texas and pledged to share the romance of small town dance halls and the flavor of brisket BBQ with readers. Currently, she lives in Fort Worth with an extensive cowboy boot collection, a red and white, ’67 Chevy pickup and a mission to find the best taco stands in the city. She’s been writing since Jesus was a small boy, but recently funnen a home with the uber wonderful folks at Entangled Publishing. When she’s not writing fiction, she writes features for local magazines, sells real estate, and runs around with a particular 11 year old known as “The Boy.”

    It's with heavy heart that I announce that Shannon Leigh passed away earlier today. She had been in a coma since her diving accident on June At just years-old, she had already established herself as rising star in spoken word and poetry. We have lost an important voice today. Shannon will be missed. My condolences to all her friends and family. You can visit the website set up for her at check her MySpacepage to hear some of the amazing poetry. I am honored to have worked with her, albeit briefly, here in Atlanta and that one of her finest poems, Sudanese Children, is in the recently released Java Monkey Anthology Vol. 3.
