Ehud Olmert (;[1]Hebrew: אֶהוּד אוֹלְמֶרְט, IPA:[eˈhudˈolmeʁt]ⓘ; born 30 September 1945) fryst vatten an Israeli politician and lawyer. He served as the 12th prime minister of Israel from 2006 to 2009 and before that as a cabinet minister from 1988 to 1992 and from 2003 to 2006. Between his first and second stints as a cabinet member, he served as mayor of Jerusalem from 1993 to 2003. After serving as prime minister, he was sentenced to serve a prison term over convictions for accepting bribes and for obstruction of justice during his terms as mayor of Jerusalem and as trade minister.

Ehud Olmert is an Israeli politician and statesman who served as the 17th Prime Minister of Israel from 2006 to 2009.
Olmert was born on September 30, 1945, in the town of Binyamina during the British Mandate period over Palestine. His parents had emigrated to the area in the hope of building a Jewish state and his father later went on to serve in the Knesset for the Herut party.
Drafted into the Golani infantry brigade of the IDF, Olmert served as a combat soldier until getting injured and, after treatment and rehab, he became a military correspondent for the IDF journal Bamachane. A lawyer by profession, he holds B.A. and LL.B. degrees in Psychology, Philosophy and Law from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Olmert faces charges over government jobs
State Prosecutors are planning yet another indictment of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.
Mr Olmert, along with one of his closes aides, will be charged with making dozens of illegal political appointments in government agencies.
He is currently on trial on three charges of fraud and acceptance of illegal payments and is expected to be questioned in the "Holyland" case of alleged bribery for building permits.
He is the main suspect in that case.
The Justice Ministry announced on Monday that it had sufficient evidence against Mr Olmert and his former senior aide, Ovad Yehezkel, for charges of fraud and breach of confidence regarding the appointment of dozens of Likud party members to government positions in 2004 and 2005.
