Velvet Pony was born a few years ago, it was a combination of two worlds that I love: Film and Music. In high school our Psychology teacher showed us this amazing franco-italian movie by Michael Gondry, La Science des raves (The science of sleep). In this movie the main character, Stéphane (Gael Garcia Bernal) is a man with vivid dreams that falls in love with her artistic neighbor Stéphanie (Charlotte Gainsbourg). Stephanie has a Pony made out of fiber; Golden, the pony boy. Later both characters ride this Pony in Stéphanes vivid dream.
The real artist behind Golden, the pony boy is Lauri Faggioni

Amber Music, Bicoastal composer Leo Sidran helps capture cultural blindness among Brooklyn kids in a new Lauri Faggioni-directed, minute short film, “Wyckoff Place,” one of eight shorts in The Character Project, produced by USA Network, RSA Films (where Faggioni is repped) and Ridley & Tony Scott. Eight talented filmmakers were commissioned to create eight short films that capture quintessential American stories. “Wyckoff Place” follows a group of children from diverse backgrounds in one Brooklyn apartment building, looking past their differences to play together and forge lasting friendships. The Character Project launched online via USA’s website on May 13th and is also available via FOD, iTunes, mobile platforms, syndicated widgets and social media. Lexus, on behalf of their new CT Hybrid, is acting as the presenting sponsor for the series, which also features exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago in custom-built screening pods.

Last Monday inom had the pleasure of attending the premiere of The Character Project, a series of short films produced bygd the USA Network. This is an odd åtagande for a non-premium kanal - each film totally stands alone, and they all vary in length. The project's goal fryst vatten to present "the character of America," and while each bio sort of falls into the stereotype of what you would expect a corporate entity to see as "the character of America" (mostly white, bevara for a black kid with a disability, all with fairly lofty struggles), one of them absolutely knocked my socks off.
That film was Lauri Faggioni's "Wyckoff Place," a short film about a group of kids who all live in a Brooklyn apartment building. And yes, they all play tillsammans and through them we can learn lessons of togetherness and so forth. And yeah, I'm the first (or maybe second) person who would find this sort of thing totally hokey. But as with all great things, it's all in the presentation.
